Air New Zealand has launched a stunning new uniform, designed by celebrated designer Emilia Wickstead and featuring hand-painted prints by tā moko artist Te Rangitu Netana.

Worn by 6,000 team members worldwide, Air New Zealand’s uniforms have long been a symbol of the airline’s identity. The new design builds on this legacy, weaving together bold creativity and cultural roots to reflect Aotearoa’s spirit.
A Design Rooted in Meaning
The collection features standout pieces like The Fine Print – Dress, which highlights Emilia Wickstead’s expert craftsmanship. Its kōwhai print, inspired by the story of Ngatoro-i-Rangi, symbolizes protection and belonging.
Another key item, The Collective Thread – Shirt, showcases the striking purapura whetū pattern. This versatile piece suits any crew or ground staff member, emphasizing the collection’s inclusivity.
For Pasifika team members, the Ie Faitaga garment will be trialed, reflecting Air New Zealand’s commitment to diversity.
Pilots get a fresh look too, with a pinstriped suit lined with a kiwi feather print, evoking leadership and prestige. Every detail in the collection tells a story, from vibrant colors to thoughtful tailoring.

Air New Zealand’s Chief Executive, Greg Foran, sees the uniform as more than just clothing. “This is a celebration of our people, our culture, and our values,” he says.
“We’ve never been about blending in. Our airline thrives on boldness, showcasing what makes us unique. This uniform captures that spirit, blending innovation with heritage to instill pride in our team.”
Emilia Wickstead, the designer behind the collection, calls it a passion project. “Designing for Air New Zealand felt deeply personal,” she shares.
“I wanted to honor Aotearoa’s heritage and create something that inspires pride. Good design should feel special, and I believe this uniform does that for everyone who wears it or sees it.”

Te Rangitu Netana’s hand-drawn prints add powerful narratives to the collection. Each pattern reflects Aotearoa’s land, sea, and people.
“Every print tells a story,” Netana explains. “They’re rooted in our traditions and values as Kiwi. As a Māori artist, I feel a responsibility to share our culture authentically. I’m proud these designs will travel the world with Air New Zealand.”
